HEIGHTENING GAME THROUGH CHARACTERS
Noon – 3pm, Saturday, June 8th
$35

This workshop will focus on how to create and heighten game by focusing on huge, dynamic character choices. Through digging into your character’s unique perspective, David & Katie will show you how personal game can fuel scenic game. This workshop helps improvisers take off the filters people maintain in everyday life to expose the depth and discovery that lies just behind a character’s silly façade; and show how it can affect the world they create onstage.

Katie Holcomb & David Pijor are founding members of the Richmond Comedy Coalition and the Artistic and Creative Directors of the Coalition Theater opening in Richmond this summer. They’re two-thirds of the team Middle Management as well as regular performers in the RCC’s mainstage shows. Both coach and teach improv through the RCC’s training center and have played comedy fests all over, including New York, Austin, New Orleans, Philly, Boston, North Carolina, Charleston and Toronto.

WALK-INS WELCOME- $5 per class
This Iyengar-based hatha yoga class will focus on flexibility and strengthening and is designed for all levels. It’s perfect for athletes, people with limited flexibility or long-time practitioners looking to specify alignment and accuracy in their poses. Teacher Rachel Klem is certified under the Yoga: Body, Mind & Spirit training program and has been practicing Yoga for 20 years and teaching for 7. Why so cheap? We don’t have the same overhead as a studio and can charge quite a bit less per session because of this. We also don’t offer some of the amenities of a studio- practitioners must bring their own mats and props. But beyond that we believe yoga is a necessity, not a luxury.
